The Mariners are joining with Wine by Design and Maryhill Winery for the release of a limited edition Seattle Mariners Wine Collection.
The collection includes a 2011 Columbia Valley Red and White wine.
The white wine is “a refreshing blend of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, with aromas of citrus, pear and melon.” The red is a “fruit-forward light-bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc with flavors of mixed berry, caramel and cinnamon.” They were hand-crafted by winemaker Richard Batchelor of Maryhill Winery.
Maryhill Winery is one of the largest, most visited wineries in Washington. It’s located along the Columbia River near Goldendale. In June, it was named 2014 Winery of the Year at the San Francisco International Wine Competition, the largest and most respected international competition in the U.S.
The Mariners Collection wines will be available at Safeco Field beginning with the August 25th homestand. They will also be featured at tastings during select games and during special events at the ballpark. The wine was featured on Friday at the Lou Piniella Hall of Fame luncheon in honor of the newest member of the Mariners Hall of Fame, and bottles of Mariners Reserve wine were presented to Lou.
The wines are now available for purchase at mlb.com/wine, and will soon be at select local retailers (the distributor is still working out the details of where and when the wines will be available).
